What does an elected member of Lisburn City Council do?
There are 30 Councillors who sit on Lisburn City Council. The Mayor is elected annually at the Councils Annual meeting in June. Each elected member is voted in to the Council by the public at Local Government elections. The last elections were held in 2005. The 30 elected members work with Council Officers, and the Full Council, on which all 30 members sit, decide on Council business. There is a Council Committee structure in place. These are the following Statutory Committees with the respective Chairs and Vice Chairs: For a flowchart please use the following link /your-city-council/general-faqs//filestore/documents/test/General_FAQ_answers1.doc Each Council Committee meets monthly. Officer reports on Council business are discussed at the Committee meetings and decisions and actions agreed. The Full Council meeting, which usually takes place on the last Tuesday of each month, ratifies or endorses Committee decisions.
