What does American Red Cross Tissue Services do?
• In 1982, American Red Cross Tissue Services (ARCTS) was established to meet the growing need for tissue. Red Cross Tissue Services is one of the largest full-service tissue banks in the nation offering patients the benefits of years of experience. • The Red Cross provides about one-fifth of the nation’s tissue for transplantation. The Red Cross helped approximately 85,000 people last year, through the generous gifts of more than 2,000 donor families. • Donated tissue is distributed for transplantation in almost 400 forms.
