What does Alcan Packaging do in terms of social sustainability initiatives?
In January 2007, we adopted a leading-edge Social Responsibility Directive and corresponding audit program, which applies to our sites as well as our suppliers and subcontractors. The Directive states Alcan Packaging’s minimum expectations with regard to socially-related business conduct and Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) issues. To ensure agreement to the Directive, Alcan Packaging has implemented a series of social responsibility audits using a reputable external partner and internationally recognized criteria. The audits look, for example, at the practices in terms of Labour & Human rights (freedom of association, non-discrimination, working hours, etc), and EHS (safety, workplace environment, emergency response, environment, etc.).
