Agile software development is being used by Oracle on some of its new applications. The agile movement gained its momentum from a 2001 meeting of software developers who were exploring this new approach. An agile process focuses on rapid coding of a software product by successive segments. A team works together, preferably at the same facility, to code a segment of a product, then test it for bugs before moving on to the next segment. The goal is to produce working code rapidly, rather than following a serial process that is heavily documented, sometimes called a waterfall process.
