Adjustable means the buckle clips onto the belts. This allows you to remove the buckle from one belt and attach it to another. It also allows you to remove the buckle, shorten a belt, and then reattach the buckle to the same belt. Fixed buckles are attached and cannot be removed, so sizes are fixed and must be selected based on a basic size scale (i.e 28″ , 30″, 32″, 34″, etc).
