What does a typical house look like in Kigutu?
Most Burundians don’t have decent places in which to sleep. The houses are mostly made from mud on a wood frame with thatched roofs. These offer very little protection from outside elements. Wind and water damage during the rainy season is often a problem. These conditions directly contribute to the poor health outcomes seen in places like Burundi.
