What does a sunscreen’s “SPF” rating mean?
A. All sunscreens have a sun protection factor (SPF) on their labels. SPF measures the length of time it takes for skin redness to appear on sunscreen-protected skin, relative to bare skin. As a rule, you should always use a sunscreen with at least SPF 15. This means that sunscreen protected skin will take 15 times longer to burn than bare skin.
