What Does A Stitch In Time Mean?
A stitch in time saves nine (stitches) is the way I have always heard it. If you had a seam on a piece of clothing lose a few stitches, it wouldn’t be a big deal but it would probably continue to lose more all the time til the clothing became unusable. But if the first few stitches were replaced early on, it would never become a problem. Similarly if the gutter started coming lose from the house, not a big problem but if left unattended the entire run of gutter might come off etc etc.
