What does a sales & marketing manager do?
These are usually two different job functions with different responsibilities. A sales manager will recruit, train and motivate salesmen. He will usually continue working with his salesmen to help them hone their skills. He will also introduce sales personnel to new products and services. A marketing manager may be over the sales manager. Sales is part of marketing. The marketing manager has broader job responsibilities. These may include market research, developing collateral materials and promotional materials and working with production and advertising agencies to promote the company or products. He is usually assigned the task of developing an annual marketing plan. The marketing manage is usually not directly involved in selling but will have responsibility for identifying and developing markets and expanding market share. Many people confuse the function of sales and marketing.
