What does a real estate broker do?
The head cheese in a real estate office is the Designated Broker. They are responsible for the actions of each real estate agent in their office, retaining records of each transaction, staff & sales management, recruiting of new agents. Some Designated Brokers actively list & sell real estate. Others do not because their hands are full with the management of the office or feel like makes it look like they are competing with their agents. A real estate agent (Sale Associate license) can obtain an Associate Broker license after they have been an active, practicing agent per their states requirements. An agent with an Associate Broker license would have the ability to open their own office, if they chose to do so. In theory, one with an Associate Broker license has more experience, education & knowledge than a Sales Associate.
