What does a pre-purchase exam entail?
A pre-purchase exam is a complete physical done prior to the purchase of your new horse. It begins with the basic temp, pulse & respiratory rate of the horse. An eye exam, skin exam and flexion test are also done. Further exams or diagnostics may also be included depending on the potential use of the horse, such as a breeding soundness exam for a broodmare or radiographs, ultrasound and drug testing for a show horse.
