What does a plastics (thermoforming) (level 2) trainee do?
A plastics (themoforming) (level 2) trainee is involved in: • working with plastics processors who handle machinery that manufactures or finishes plastic products • injection moulding • pipe and profile extrusion • blow moulding of plastic bottles • film and sheet extrusion • thermoforming and fabrication • reinforcing plastics (fibreglass) and composites • vinyl calendaring • laminating • compounding and reclamation • foam processing • cable manufacturing. This area of training specialises in the production of heat or otherwise moulded plastics – the plastic is formed through the application of heat or by bending sheets of plastic to form the required shape.
