what does a pit bull look like?
“Pit bull” is used as both a breed designation and a description of a type of dog. Some breed bans target dogs that look enough like a “dangerous breed” without really defining such breeds clearly. MEPS: Everything in the world has a potential to be dangerous. You can’t make a test for everything. Just because someone passes a written paper test or can tell their dog to sit does not make them a good person. Licensing people would require they get the license before the dog. Otherwise people will just own dogs and not report it. It is like licensing/registering your pet with the City. How many people actually do it when it is actually a By-law in most places? Also, how many people with licenses kill people by driving drunk or getting into accidents? The likelihood of a dog going apeshit and killing or severely maming a person is very rare when you consider the sheer number of dogs in a country like the USA or Canada in this case. If passed, this bill #189, will take out the name pit bull from the bill and they will be treated the same as other dogs, where they are only vicious if they show signs of aggression towards someone or bite them. I think it is fair enough to judge an animal based off of their past rather than off of their breed alone. If we can get one state to change, maybe others will follow and with other breeds!There are so many breeds that are being punished because there are dog-fighters that are not caught and animal abusers not prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
