What does a person regressed from P2 to P1 have to do?
• A person regressed from the P2 stage to the P1 stage must hold a P1 licence for a continuous 12-month period before being eligible to be re-issued with a P2 licence. • During this time, the person must display P-plates and be subject to an 80 km/h speed limit, and a zero blood and breath alcohol requirement. • All of the relevant licence fees must be paid again. • The only condition that will not be imposed on a motorcycle rider is the requirement to ride only a learner approved motorcycle, or what is widely known as a LAM. This means that a person who is regressed from the P2 stage to the P1 stage in relation to a motorcycle will not be restricted to riding a LAM, unless the Registrar of Motor Vehicles determines otherwise.
