What does a person regressed from P1 to learner have to do?
• A person regressed from the P1 stage to the learner stage must spend a minimum of 28 days as the holder of a learner licence before being eligible to undertake the P1 driving test or for a novice rider the practical skills test (MOST). • All of the relevant licence and test fees must be paid again. • During this time, the person must display L-plates, and be subject to an 80 km/h speed limit, and a zero blood and breath alcohol requirement. • A novice driver will not be required to accumulate a further 50 supervised driving hours, but he or she must only drive when accompanied by an appropriate supervising driver. • A novice rider must only ride a learner approved motorcycle. • After April 2009 and the introduction of the L1 and L2 stages, a novice driver will regress from the P1 stage to the L2 stage. Before being eligible to be re-issued with a P1 licence the person must hold an L2 licence for at least 28 days and re-sit the second practical driving test.
