What does a new skylight cost?
VELUX skylights are not expensive in their basic form…but when you get into the electrically venting units with shades or blinds the price jumps considerably. That being said fixed skylights themselves might cost $200 to $400 depending on size. The largest fixed (non-venting) skylight VELUX stocks costs under $425…but upgrade to a manually venting unit and the price goes to almost $750, and the electrically venting units jump to about $1,450 just for the skylight…installation, flashing kits, materials and taxes will easily double those amounts. Still, there is very little you can do for your house that makes such a difference at this price.
