What does a negative HIV antibody test result mean?
It means either: • that a person has not been infected with HIVF or • that a person has been infected with HIV but has not yet produced antibodies. Remember it can take up to three months for antibodies to develop after infection with HIV. This means the test may become positive in the following weeks, so you may need to do the test again.
