What does a medical biller/coder do?
The medical (insurance) biller is supposed to try to facilitate payment for the patient under certain guidelines, however, there aren’t so many billing jobs these days as companies are outsourcing to Asia/India. Medical coders are supposed to put the correct medical code/diagnosis for billing purposes. The coder must be very precise as they billing company can get a hefty fine if improperly coded. Medical coders usually need a few years experience doing coding tasks and have graduated from an accredited program along with certification(s) within the field to possibly get employment.
