What does a homicide detective do?
A homicide detective is a law enforcement professional who investigates murders. She analyzes crime scenes, examines forensic evidence, interviews witnesses, and interrogates suspects. Detectives usually work in teams to uncover clues and find the people involved with the crime. They usually carry weapons, handcuffs, and radios so that they are prepared to nab potentially violent criminals. In order to become a homicide detective in most settings, an individual is required to receive a college degree and attend a specialized training program at a police academy.
