What does a glycolic acid peel do?
A glycolic acid peel exfoliates or lifts the dead cells off the surface and causes some thickening of the epidermis. The swelling and changes cause some smoothing of wrinkles. This effect is temporary and gradually wears off. Glycolic acid peels can be repeated. It is reasonably common to have a series of 4-6 peels one or twice a year. It is essential to be on a home maintenance program with regular glycolic acid exfoliation after a peel.
