What does a Glazier and Glass Processor apprentice do?
An apprentice Glazier and Glass Processor is involved in: • installing and replacing glass, aluminium and related products in buildings, vehicles, furniture and other products • installing all types of architectural aluminium windows, doorframes and hardware As a Glazier and Glass Processor you must be able to: • read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine the materials required, location of framing and procedures for installation • measure openings for size and shape, produce shop drawings, mark and cut glass to fit, secure the glass in place, weatherproof joints and fabricate and install aluminium window parts • install, fit, fabricate and attach architectural metals or related substitute products in commercial and residential buildings • assemble parts of pre-fabricated glass units such as revolving doors, display cases, float glass, shower doors, shop fronts, automatic doors, skylights, sloped glazing, curtain walls, barrel vaults, solarium and other support structu
