What does a forensic psychologist do in probate court?
Elder law matters may require a forensic psychologist to perform an evaluation of an individual for a variety of reasons. For example, a psychologist may assess one’s ability to live independently, or to determine one’s capacity to draft and understand a will. Such evaluations assist the individual, family members, and the fact finder by providing a thorough discussion of an individual’s strengths and limitations, which in turn guide legal decisions and long-term care planning.
