Answer Hi Lola, A distended stomach will look large, as though the puppy had a really big meal. It will feel hard, and the puppy may not be as active as it should be. Many things, ranging from: internal injuries, nutritional problems, congenital diseases, eating something that wasn’t edible, or a simple case of “worms” can cause a distended stomach. Of course treatments will vary depending on what the problem is. If your puppy has distended stomach, you need to have it examined by your veterinarian if your puppy’s stomach has been distended for more than 48 hours, or if it’s acting lethargic too.
