What does a diagnostic evaluation consist of?
A proper diagnostic evaluation consists of a developmental history, review of previous evaluations/interventions, behavior rating scales, and an appropriate battery of diagnostic tests in face-to-face testing sessions with you or your child. The test battery will change depending upon the nature of the referral (i.e., social/emotional difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorders, etc.), but most batteries contain intelligence testing, educational assessment, and some degree of neuropsychological assessment (memory, attention, executive functions assessment, among other domains).
