What does a core philosophy mean?
When managing a core portfolio the aim is to deliver consistent above benchmark returns while managing the relative risk of the portfolio versus the index. We believe that a portfolio which combines carefully structured growth and value stocks with rigorous risk management, should outperform while maintaining relatively modest volatility versus its benchmark in any economic cycle. We believe, different sectors require different evaluation measures and therefore use varying analytical tools depending on which sector the stock under scrutiny is in.
