What does a Chilean recluse spider look like?
It has a body length about 1/2 to 5/8-inches long, with a leg span about the size of a half-dollar. It is tan to reddish-brown in color, with a darker brown mark in the head area that is somewhat violin-shaped, although the mark is not as distinctive in shape as the native brown recluse. It is very difficult for anyone but a trained arachnologist (spider expert) to properly identify the Chilean recluse.
