What does a Carpentry Framing (Housing) apprentice do?
A carpentry framing (housing) apprentice is involved in: • handling carpentry material and using carpentry tools and equipment • planning and organising workload • conducting measurements and calculations • using explosive power tools • erecting and dismantling restricted height scaffolding • constructing wall frames and ceiling frames • constructing pitched roofs • carrying out levelling operations • carrying out general demolition to minor building structures • reading and interpreting plans and specifications • installing and replacing windows and doors. The role of the carpentry framing (housing) apprentice may also include: • framing and fitting wet area fixtures • constructing timber external stairs • installing flooring systems • installing exterior cladding • welding using welding equipment • constructing bulkheads.
