What does a career coach do?
• Conducts individual coaching sessions and classroom workshops on a variety of topics including: Assessing Career Interests, Conducting Occupational Research, Developing Academic Success Skills, and Selecting A Post-Secondary Educational Option. • Assists students in the career exploration process and helps them create a career plan that includes educational courses and work experiences that will prepare them for their chosen career. • Works with students through the application process for NOVA or other colleges, universities or apprentice programs, and to help students understand the options and process for receiving financial aid. • Arranges placement testing enabling students to take courses that will give them both high school and NOVA college credit.
