What does a Calibration System consist of?
A calibration system using deadweights consists of 3 parts. • A frame to load the cell using deadweights • Deadweights • The load cell under test and its electronics A calibration system using an hydraulic or mechanical loading frame consists of 6 parts: • A means of applying a force to the load cell under test. This is the loading frame (hydraulic or mechanical) This also includes fixturing of the load cell. • A means of applying varying different loads. This may be manual control or maybe automatic control. • *A means of knowing what force is being applied to the load cell under test. A high accuracy reference load cell is used for this. • *Electronics to provide power to the load cell under test. This may be the electronics that is normally used by this cell while in the field or it may be electronics used only on the calibration frame. • *Electronics to provide power to the reference load cell. • *A means of comparing the readings from the load cell under test against the reading f
