What does a 15 minute mile pace mean?
What that means is after the 15 minute per mile pace that we start to open roads and volunteers start heading home. Runners can continue and have to understand that roads are now open and are required to move to the sidewalk. Water stations are closed after the 15 per mile pace. We do have staff on the route in vehicles with water checking on runners to make sure they are OK. Some of the directional signs are also taken down at that time as well. We do continue to pass out medals till all runners are back in. After about 6 1/2 hours we start cleaning up the finish line. At that point must of the crowds have gone home. Water stations begin to close @ Mile 1 at 7:15 a.m. and every 15 minutes each mile after that.
