What documents may I accept from an employee as proof of identity and work eligibility?
• List A Documents- Employer must accept any of the following documents: • U.S. Passport, expired or unexpired Permanent resident card or alien registration receipt card with photo, form I-151 or form I-551 Unexpired temporary resident card, form I-688; Unexpired employment authorization card, form I-688A or new Form I-766 • Unexpired employment authorization document issued by the INS which contains a photograph, form I-688B. • List B Documents- Employer must accept any of the following in combination with any List C document: • A driver’s license or ID card issued by a state or outlying possession of the United States provided that it contains a photograph • ID card issued by federal, state, or local government agencies or entities, provided that it contains a photograph • School ID card with a photograph • U.S. Military ID card • U.S. Coastguard Merchant Mariner Card • Native American tribal document • Driver’s License issued by a Canadian government authority • List C Documents tha
