What documentation is required for a shipment moving to Canada?
We require accurate consignee information name, address, contact person and telephone number and, wherever possible, the name/telephone number of the Canadian Customs Broker inserted in the special instructions on the Transborder pro. A commercial invoice is also required in order to clear through Canada Customs showing sell to and ship to parties, description of goods, value and country of origin. NAFTA calls for duty free trade between the US & Canada provided the goods are manufactured within the two countries. Stating the country of manufacture on the invoice provides for smooth clearance. Remember: do NOT attach the documents to the freight they should be placed in an envelope and securely attached to the back of the pro.
