Marla, I’ve been using Spiceworks to some degree for a while. Version 2.0 is faster and more comprehensive than previous versions. I find it to be a good resource with regard to Inventory and management of assets. You’ll need to dedicate a system/PC with reasonable resources and disable Windows Firewall on devices you want to scan. It is Ad based, but that can be disabled for a cost. The Ads don’t really bother me. The reporting is relatively comprehensive and you can set alarms for various thresholds pertaining to resources like drive space and system availability. I think it’s a very good system for smaller operations but would have limitations in a larger enterprise. I think it would serve your needs very well.
