What do you think of the quality of the new Samick pianos?
Answer Hello! The problem with assessing anything new without an established track record is precarious at best. As a technician, I deal with instruments after their manufacture sometimes either weeks, months or years later. I know several fine pianists who own Samicks and have been quite happy with them. I know they are acceptable because the pianos’ track records over the years have proven it. With anything new however, we will just have to see. I have not heard of any complaints from techs…unless you talk to a competitor, which is only natural. As a general rule, all pianos are tuned dozens of times in the factories to stabilize them before they are shipped off to dealers. One way the less expensive pianos are produced is through limiting the number of times they are factory tuned. All this means is that the dealer and/or owner needs to pick up where the factory left off. Reports that some pianos don’t hold tune very well is usually due to this condition.
