the song itself is about saying goodbye to all her past boyfriends and like the other songs in the fame monster each song is based off a “monster” the monster for this song being the “fear of sex monster”. the video however is about the purity of her friendships with her gay friends and how she has been unable to find that with a straight man in her life, gaga said that “It’s a celebration and an admiration of gay love—it confesses my envy of the courage and bravery they require to be together,” and that in her video she is pining for the love of her gay friends but they do not want her.
