What do you think about youth sports with big time commitments?

0

All my children play youth sports, all year around, from basketball to football to baseball. I love that they get exercise, and have to work as a team. Yes, they do have practice or games usually 5-6 days a week but they have the time. They enjoy the sports that is why we do them. However it takes a big commitment. My kids manage to maintain good grades and my 10 year old is a high honor student. What I do have a problem with is when kids hate sports and the parents force them to play anyhow. OR when kids do poorly in school and the parents allow them to continue sports. As for the times yes they do strike me as reasonable as long as the child can handle it. If they cannot, they should not play youth sports. Idle time is the devils time. While my kids are at sports I am too, they are supervised, meantime their peers are all off smoking, drink, and doing many other inappropriate things.
