What do you think about the attention overweight ,special needs, anorexia, and bulimic people get?
I seriously don’t think overweight people are that way to get attention. When my pants are tight I do not want anyone looking at the extra bulges I have on me. I didn’t mind attention when my body was rock hard B.C. (before children). But now that I have some extra junk in the trunk per se I do not want anyone paying attention ot it. I also have a child with autism (high functioning.) If that is what you are referring to as special needs then yes they need attention to help them get through this jungle we call life. There are animal out there that take advantage of those who can not defend themselves, so the disabled need assistance and advocacy. Those who do not think so have never been close to someone like this. Can special needs be abused? Certainly there are those who take advantage of situations and labels. We as a society need to help others become more self sufficient. If we are enablers then we do not help those who suffer from disorders and disablitlies. But I think each has

It’s acceptable today to tell jokes and all about being overweight, with little thought to the pain they may cause. I truly don’t see being overweight as a condition gaining positive attention. Anorexia and Bulimia are medical conditions that deserve our compassion. Although it is easy to point fingers and say, ‘they did this to themselves’, these conditions still need our support. I will agree, however, that some people, especially in our entertainment industry, seem to view having these conditions as better than gaining weight. SAD SAD SAD Special needs, however, is one area that I will always champion. These kids don’t get half the attention they deserve, and are subject to ridicule and cruelties from other children often. Parents have to fight doctors and school districts to get what their children need, and when the government (o
The attention that individuals with eating disorders get is negative, not positive. Just like children whose parents do not pay much attention begin to lash out at least to get some response, even if it is negative. Individuals with special needs get more nurturing attention but it isn’t always known to the one with the special needs. Overweight people it seems get negative attention because it is thought that they can help the way they are, which in most cases is true, but some are happy the way they are.
