SHAWNEE, Kan. — A group motorcycle ride by five riders ended with one man dead and another man in serious condition after their bikes bumped each other. Kansas Highway Patrol officials said five people were riding northbound on K-7 Highway at around 5:30 p.m. “The rear two motorcycles apparently touched each other. That caused them to start to wobble and go out of control,” KHP Lt. David Porter said. “Both motorcycles fell over.” KHP officials said the impact ejected both riders into a nearby ditch. Emergency crews pronounced a 57-year-old man dead at the scene. The other man is critical condition at Overland Park Regional Hospital. “We’re not really sure if they were in the same lane or in the process of making a lane change or what happened there,” Porter said. KHP investigators worked late into the night to find answers in the accident.
