WHY exactly is Notre Dame protesting Obama being the graduation speaker? Is it because he’s not catholic? I have yet to here one single logical, rational reason for this. Hampton University was forced to have President George Bush Sr. as the speaker for their 1991 (or possibly 1992) graduation. This was extremely controversial since 1) Hampton is one of the most prestigious historically black universities in the country and definitely NOT a supporter of either Bush administration, 2) this was right after all the controversy over Clarence Thomas, who Bush Sr. nominated for Supreme Court Justice and who is extremely unpopular among educated black people for being such a blatant prick, and 3) this was during the first Iraq war and leading into the Bush/Clinton election and Bush Sr. was just not popular – period.
