What do you think about people having babies in there late 40s?

My mum had me when she was 45 and my dad was 44. Her doctor advised her to have a termination as the baby would “almost certainly” have Downs. Luckily she didn’t and I was fine! I got a lot of attention when I was a child as my older sisters and brother were in there teens/twenties so it was like having multiple mums and dads in a way! I don’t feel as if I missed out on anything by having older parents; if anything they had more time to spend with me because they no longer had other young children to care for. My mum is now 77 and I am 32 but she is still my mum and I don’t really see her as “old”. My sister also had her child late; at the age of 43. She is a great mum and my nephew is a very happy and well balanced little boy. I think it’s OK to have kids in your 40’s – if anything, it probably means you will be more patient with your child as you have more life experience to draw on.
