What do you see as the key features of the new ultracapacitor products?
Hall:We are introducing our 1000-, 3000- and 5000- Farad cells. For our 1000-Farad prismatic ultracapacitor, the applications are back-up power, automotive sub-systems, engine starting, hybrid drive trains and industrial motor start. We have a few competitive differentiators between our product and what else is on the market. For example, our competitors currently do not make a 1000-Farad cell. We see our competition as being Maxwell Technologies and Nesscap out of South Korea. They make a 1200-Farad product. In our 1000-Farad pack we have the same maximum power as they do in their 1200-Farad pack and we use 24 percent less volume. ESR is also an important attribute. That is one of the major figures in how you determine the value of an ultracapacitor and the larger the ultracapacitor the lower the ESR. Our 1000-Farad ultracapacitor has the same ESR as a1200-Farad ultracapacitor. That performance comes down to the electrode within the capacitor and the design and the materials that we u
