What do you remember of the day of the 1978 final against Bruges at Wembley?
On the day of the game there was an element of doubt about what the team was going to be and that was something of a distraction for me. I didn’t think it was fair that people were wondering if I was going to play or not. I had played the final games of the season and felt I was doing well and scoring goals and yet some were suggesting I shouldn’t play. That ruined the day a bit for me, if I’m being honest. I felt I had made the position my own. I did get the nod to play and obviously it was a great occasion for everyone involved. I remember it was a beautiful night in London and Bruges came with a reputation of being a strong team, but we knew they were going through a period where they were struggling a bit and weren’t playing particularly well.
