What do you need to be a homicide detective?
Also most of them if not all require you to have a 4 year degree in Criminal Justice or some type of law enforcement degree. And like stated above you need to work the streets and then after a certain amount of years you can apply for it. You will have to take a homicide detective test first and maybe a little more training. After that you will usually work with an experienced partner and learn the ropes of it. But remember It’s a very tuff job and you will be working longer hours than regular police work. Also you will be on call 24/7 and it is nothing like that T.V. show CSI.
