There are different forms of angioedema with different causes that are treated differently. It is, therefore, important to look for and find the underlying cause of each patient’s swelling attacks. Depending of their cause, the different forms of angioedema are classified as follows: • Histamine-mediated angioedema • Bradykinin-mediated angioedema (this includes both hereditary and acquired forms of angioedema) • Other types of angioedema (not mediated by either histamine or bradykinin).
