What do wild animals think of people?
Some wild animals are fed up with humans: we are destroying their homes and way of life and they don’t see any use for us. Others are more philosophical and can be very interested in approaching and connecting with humans. I find it varies from individual to individual, and you can’t make any broad generalizations about species. Usually what a wild animal thinks of humans is a reflection of how humans have treated that animal or its kin. The key to good wildlife-human interactions lies with our intentions. If we are complimentary, respectful, and willing to negotiate and reciprocate, our interactions with wildlife can be quite magical. In ancient times, humans considered wild animals to be wise counselors and consulted them for guidance. In the book, I suggest ways to recapture that kind of relationship with wildlife.
