What do we do when the primary insurance has not paid correctly or at all, and we are unable to accurately submit an MSP claim to Medicare timely?
At this time, there is only one exception to timely filing. We would recommend submitting the claim to the primary insurer and submit the claim to Medicare secondary based on the primary payer’s explanation of benefit (EOB). If at some point in the future, the payment information needs to be adjusted, and timely filing has expired, you can submit a written request to Cahaba with the adjusted claim, and we will review it to determine if we can override timely filing.
