Its is actually illegal to keep one in almost all states. The BEST thing you can do to help this baby survive is to contact a wilflife rehabilitator. You can call any vet or even the police station to get local numbers for some. The MOST IMPORTANT thing to do is to give the baby little droppers full of pure water, warmed to the temperature of you wrist (like a baby bottle). Dehydration is the killer of most baby birds that leave the nest before they should. Animal rehabilitators are volunteers who will not charge you to bring the bird in to them. They have the expertise and the tools and propper food to help the bird survive. I cannot stress enough the need to contact one immediately.
