What do they dissect in high school biology classes these days?
As a Science Teacher, I can tell you that some things have changed but others have not. 1. Students do not have to dissect. If they want they can use computer software that takes them through dissecting as if they were actually doing it. 2. The animals picked for dissection varies depending on the school curriculum and the teachers liking of one animal over another. Also some plants are dissected. 3. There are now prepackaged kits which have the animals dissected in various ways so that you do not have to do the actual dissecting. I like to dissect frogs, rats, birds, fish, snakes, squid, crayfish as well as other things.
