What do the vertical and horizontal lines on the critical crack size curve mean?

0

Signal FFS™ calculates the critical crack size using several different analyses. It is possible for the critical crack length to be longer than the width (or radius) of the geometry. If this is the case, there will be a vertical line on the right end of the critical crack size curve and you should rerun the analysis using the ‘Long Surface Crack’ option. It is also possible that the critical crack depth is deeper than the thickness of the geometry. If this is the case, there will be a horizontal line at the left end of the critical crack size curve and you should rerun the analysis with the ‘Through-Wall Crack’ option.
