In December 2009, the Council of Australia Governments (COAG) agreed to a reform of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) which makes it a requirement of registration that Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) provide data compliant with the AVETMIS Standard. This change was made to capture all accredited training. Under the National VET Data Strategy, NCVER has embarked on a project to expand the national VET data collection to include all accredited training (including the provision of training by private providers). Consultations with key stakeholders will begin in April 2010, with a view to encouraging greater participation by private providers and Enterprise RTOs in the national VET collection (AVETMISS), starting with their 2010 activity – to be submitted in March 2011.
